Format Read: ebook

Genre: Young Adult
Release date: May 31st 2011
Formats Available: e-Book, Kindle, Nook, Hardcover
Number of pages: 400 pages
Book Blurb:
How do you defy destiny?
Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.
As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.
My Thoughts:
Since I was young the greek gods are my favorite so when I discover there's a book revolving around this, is certainly going to my bookshelf. For me it started because of my sister and her love for Odyssey, so when we bought a dog and I was over enough to decide the name, I think everyone can guess that it was Ulisses (Odyssey in my country is named Ulisses). :(
Long story short is that if you like greek mythology like I do, don't wast anytime, like I did, and go buy and read asap this book. If you have any knowledge about the myths you're gonna be surprise just like I did for how precise and correct everyone's names, and characters way. Seriously, best book of the year so far, for me at least.
Helen has always fealt different her whole life but she only starts to discover about who she really is when a new family moves to her island. If Twilight crossed your mind, change right there, because the characters give a better vibe, you feel conected with they're story and is beyond that lovers for eternity, but I think it will be better expressed on the next book.
Loved some support characters and wish the authors could give them a better setting, like Gig and Jason, they deserve to be together.
Is a huge book, with a lot of characters but once you get to know them and their world is enough for anyone to forget about the world and just read. There's another story behind the one explained on this first book, but the author does not leave a cliffhanger, don't know about you guys but I hate to wait for the answer on the next book.
Will definily buy the next book on this series and is already on my most anticipated. I'll leave the trailer for you guys get a taste of a great book.

Why I Started This Book:
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Summary:
During a playful talk about fantasies, Caitlin's fiancé offers to give her a threesome—with his best friend, Liam, who's coming to spend the weekend. At first Cait is shocked that Nathan could entertain the thought of sharing her with another man, but once he's planted the idea her imagination runs wild, leaving her deeply aroused—yet still unsure about what the implications could be for her and Nate's relationship.
Nathan's watched Cait struggle to hide her attraction to Liam for years. He knows she's nervous, but he also knows that by making her most intimate fantasies come true he can bring her to heights of pleasure she's only imagined, and strengthen their bond. There's only one way to help her overcome her inhibitions—by planning a night of ecstasy she'll never forget…
Characters:
- Caitlin
- Nathan
- Lian
My Thoughts:
The book started with pretty powerful words, a conversation between Caitlin and her fiancè Nathan, about his desire to share her with another man. Since before their relationship Nathan has been adventurous about his sex life Caitlin started to fear he was becaming bored.
But on the contrary Nathan is every girls dream, ex-military, pays attention to Caitlin reads and because off that realised that deep down she has fantasies about a treesome, so because off that he decided to give a little help, could he be any more perfect?
Caitlin was not a prude, and her sex life with Nathan was anything from vanilla, taking from anal sex to a light bondage, se tried a bit off everything. This treesome was really something she was thinking, but didn't have the courage to do it. Nathan's push was all that she needed.
I found Nathan a bit of contradiction, while he's very dominant in bed for the rest off things he's also light, washes dishes after dinner, put clothes on the wash hamper (sounds like the perfect men hmmm)
When Lian appear in the midlle off a steamy kisses, Nathan realises is the perfect moment to push Caitlin to face what she really wants, and boy those guys really know how to work together. They only need head nods to make a point.
I loved how Nathan handled the situation, especially Caitlin fears for the after relationship and his own jealousy, and still continous with a normal friendship. Also loved the fact that Callie put the last chapter on Nathan's POV, so we can see that he's also affected by their treesome, differently from the reast of the book that's all in Caitlin.
Hope this one has a sequel, cause Nathan found his happily ever after, but Lian still suffer to really connect with a woman on a relationship level.
Despite being a novel, I fealt better reading this book knowing they where already on a preview relationship, and tried a different thing.

2012 Sensational Seconds Challenge
I've found great series this year and discovered that most of them will have a second book coming up, so for this challenge I'll be reading the second books from series that will be released 2012.
The Books:
- This challenge is specifically focused on YA and MG "seconds" being published between Jan 1 - Dec 31, 2012. This includes sequels (the second book in a series only) and companion novels!(If you want a "bonus" challenge that pairs well with this, be sure to check out Shanyn @ Chick Loves Lit's Sophomore Reading Challenge!)
- I've started a Goodreads list HERE that can help you keep up with some of the upcoming sequels/companions (there are 95 books on the list so far!). Be aware that this list is not necessarily comprehensive, although I've been trying my best to keep it updated.
- This list is just the US sequels being released in 2012. I'll openly admit that I don't keep up with foreign releases. If you live in another country, feel free to post reviews for newly released sequels in your country!
- The books must be read between January 1 and December 21, 2012 to count towards the challenge. I know some people have been lucky enough to read some sequels prior to 2012, but those won't be counted towards this challenge.
- The goal of the SSC will be to read sequels/companion novels! *duh* There are four different levels that you can choose to participate at:
- Level 1 (Beginner): 1-4 books
- Level 2 (Intermediate): 5-8 books
- Level 3 (Advanced): 8-12 books
- Level 4 (Crazy): 13+ books
- Anyone can join! You don't have to be a blogger specifically, but you do need to review the sequels that you read somewhere (such as Goodreads, LibraryThing, Shelfari, etc.) in English
- There will occasionally be giveaways! (Still TBD...but they'll be for participants only)
- You can join anytime! Just set your goal and get started!
I'll be trying level 3, and here is my book list so far:
- Insurgent by Veronica Roth
- Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver
- Hallowed by Cynthia Hand
- Fever by Lauren DeStefano
- The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead
- Until I Die by Amy Plum
- Dreamless by Josephine Angelini
- Goddess Interruped by Aimee Carter
- Underworld by Meg Cabot
- Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout
The 50 states Reading challenge!
I loved the idea for this challenge, althought I think this one I'll be a failure since most of the books that I'll be reading I have no idea where the story is setting. So the end will be a surprise. Here are the rules.
The goal of this challenge is to read books that are set in each of the fifty states. Your books can be of any genre and any format (ie. paperback, ebook, audiobook, etc.). No short stories. Re-reads and crossovers from other reading challenges are fine. (Re-read reviews must be written within the year 2012; you can not use old reviews.)
You can list your books in advance or list them as you read them. The idea of this challenge came from a Goodreads group.
**Anyone can join. You don't need a blog to participate.
**Non-Bloggers: Sign up in the comments section. Post your reviews with other book sites (ie. Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Goodreads, Shelfari, etc.) and post the link in the comments section of the 50 States Reading Challenge. (will post January 1).

On my mailbox #12
sábado, 26 de novembro de 2011
Is the place where I show all the books that came home with me, some on ebooks others paperback. I prefer ebooks, they are easier for me to read, cause is lighter to carry everywhere. So most of them will be ebooks.
The covers are links to Goodreads.
I've bought an ereader this week and got some fabuolous deals that made possible to get series that were on my wishlist, so don't get nervous there will be a lot of books, but only next year reads.
From Netgalley:
IMM make it possible to feature books they receive that week... bought, borrowed at the library or received to review. That way they could mention titles that might not otherwise get some face-time on their blogs.
