Book Blurb:

Five modern takes on classic fairy tales, and the only magic is the real-life kind. Each sweet, funny, romantic short story is 10,000-13,000 words in length. The stories can be read separately, but are linked together in the collection, and wrap up in the perfect happily ever after.

My Thoughts:

The five stories inspired by the fairy tales and I thought it was very fun to discover the characters actually have the same traits to the classics.

First story is about Cindy and all she wants in life is the perfect Jiminy Shoes, so she works at a hotel and when her stepmother refuses to bring her along to the trunk sale, all that she can count on is luck and the best pair ever.

Second is about Red, a girl trying to make her health-food bakery stays open but one night she discovers that her grandmother is being attacked by Jack Wolff. This one was very funny.

Third story is Belle and she trying to save her father work after he had a stroke. So she decides to take a job from Prince Maxim and she does more than just his library. Because this prince tries hard to be left in shadows.

Fourth is Snow story and all she wants is a role in a musical but her stepmother needs someone to take care of the seven kids from a millionaire.

Fifth is Goldie story and she’s a artist with no place to live that decides to crash in an apartment after her dog-sitting duties, but she didn’t count with the owner coming home before schedule.

Book Blurb:

Beach Flirts! 5 Romantic Short Stories set in the summer sun on Cape Cod. Fun, sweet, and sassy love stories to squeeze into your busy life. Discover the loose thread that connects the stories and ties up in a perfect, happy ending.

Each short story is 9,000-12,000 words in length (or 36-48 typical book pages.) The entire collection is 52,000 words long, (or 208 pages.)

My Thoughts:

There are five stories set in Cape Cod, the first is about a couple that broke the engagement a couple days before the wedding and this is the first time they actually see each other after one year of that date. The best part of this story is the family and how they decided to help those two to get back together.

The second story is about a girl that for the first time is proud o her body after years being over weight and now she’s out in the beach trying to discover how to flirt and how to accept her new body. Of course there’s a new boo interested in her too.

The third is the better of them all and is about four girls that studied together through high school and for the first time they are all single and enjoying the party, but there’s a boy, a womanizer and he’s sexy, but only has eyes for one of the girls.

Four story is about an actor that made a teen film awhile ago and now can’t find a new job on the scenes without people remembering that faithful movie. But one day he wakes up washed out on the beach and a girl saves his life. That’s how everything changes and now he’s the new celebrity trying to find the right part.

Fifth story is about a basketball player that falls for the poor girl instead of the goddesses that are trying to get his attention. He’s super sweet and she thinks he’s only after some summer fling.

Book Blurb:

When her ex-boyfriend's body is found in the trunk of her car, Nikki Hunt quickly becomes a prime murder suspect. Fortunately, former-cop-turned-P.I. Dallas O'Connor knows what it's like to be unjustly accused. The lead detective, Dallas' own brother, has the wrong woman--and Dallas hopes a little late-night undercover work will help him prove it. Original.

My Thoughts:

When I first saw this cover my thoughts were this is a book about cowboys! But no actually is about an ex-cop who was convicted and went to jail for something he didn’t do it. After proving he and two friends, who he was framed with, decided to work investigating but from other angle and they opened a PI firm named “Don’t mess with Texas”. They are trying to do some good by helping people who get accused but are innocent and prove the man who framed them.

And that’s how he meet Nikki, who is being framed for murdering her ex-husband. I liked her, she’s actually very smart and start investigating who may want to kill her ex.

This was a fun book to read and some moments gave me a smile. I liked the investigating part, and best of all it doesn’t get in the middle of the romance.

The book is a bit long but the story was good from the begin so I was hooked from the first page and read the hole thing to discover who was the killer. Also the dog was amazing, so fun.

My name is Beatrice. When I was born, I was blessed with the Sight. I was immediately removed from my parents and enrolled in the Institution. At the age of twelve, I had my first true vision, earning my raven’s wings. And when I turned seventeen, one of my visions came true. Things haven’t been the same since.

The Institution depends on me to keep the City safe from our enemy, the Dreamcatchers, but I’m finding it harder to do while keeping a secret from everyone, including my best friend Gabe. It is a secret that could put us all in danger. A secret that could kill me and everyone close to me.

But the enemy has been coming to me in my dreams, and I think I’m falling in love with him. He says they’re coming. He says they’re angry. And I think I’ve already helped them win.

Beautiful cover, right? I loved the the different tones of blue and the art eye make up is so strong and fits just perfect. This one is a first in a new series that will be released September 11, 2012 and is also from a debut author. There’s a but of YA, and a bit of dystopian.

When I was invited to be part of this cover release, I was so happy. This one is actually on my wishlist for DAC, and the summary shows a dark world and a bit of fantasy. That’s so perfect.

Book Blurb:

Self-made millionaire Daniel MacGregor always gets his way, but convincing fiercely independent Anna Whitfield to marry him may be the challenge of his lifetime.

My Thoughts:

This one is about Daniel and Anna. How difficult for Daniel it was to understand and accept this woman that against all reasons decided to go to medical school and start working to save people lives.

Daniel decides to find a woman and get married, for the simple reason that is what everyone does. He’s rich now and work flipping houses and companies. So he get to choose from the old families, whose money will open doors.

In one ball he meets Anna Whitfield and struck for her beauty decides to court her,but what he doesn’t expected was that she wasn’t hoping for marriage, just to continue in college and get a career.

Is a bit funny to read how Daniel suffered to change he’s ideas and started to vow Anna. She’s a singular woman with a good heart and for this she actually is perfect for him.

When we read the other books, Daniel always got what he wanted and we saw Anna as a quiet woman but in this book we can see that in reality she’s much more than just that.

TBR Intervention #15

TBR Intervention is a weekly challenge hosted by  April @ Books4Juliet, Dani @ Refracted Light and Ayanami @ Whatever You Can Still Betray

The goal of this challenge is to help each other (fellow readers and bloggers) manage our enormous and constantly growing TBR (To-Be-Read) List. The rules are simple and everyone is encouraged to participate. It does not force you to commit to more than what you can manage to read in a week or so, but participants are encouraged to read at least one book within a week. You are free to choose the book you want to read and commit to this challenge. You may post your entry every Saturday, at the frequency of your choice--EVERY WEEK or EVERY TWO WEEKS. However, we will sponsor this event regularly every Saturday.

imageLast week TBRIC:
Well I didn’t finish this time, but I read a book for a book tour next week, so yeah, pretty good considering there we’re lost of essays to do.
The book was a bit slow on start but now things are actually great. I love greek mythology so this book is like jackpot, plus a DAC. Win-win.

imageTHIS WEEK'S TBRIC:

Finish Everneath, because I’m halfway through and continue with the Soul Screamers Challenge and need to read My Soul to Save.

I was so anxious to read this book as soon as the last page of My Soul to Take was turned. I’m loving this series.

New feature!

I was looking on the GoodReads for some series that I actually follow and discovered that tons of great books and some most anticipated seconds are going to be released this year. So after some thoughts and a search in my agenda, I decided to create a new feature here on the blog.

On the first week of the new month I’ll make a list of my desired reads that will be released during that current month. I will make it small and only 10 books will make it to the batch!

Also I’m trying to make my reviews to be posted on the closest date to the actual publish. For that matter I’ll make a promise to read at least one book from that list, yey!!

See ya on the first week of March for the big appearance of Dreaming on it!

Book Blurb:

Life has taught Prince Vereham al a'Karim bin Hakar to control his emotions. Duty to his kingdom drives the enigmatic sheikh.
But one unexpected, intensely sexy encounter with inexperienced Samantha McLellan shakes Vere's steely control. And when he discovers that Sam could be betraying his country, he decides to blackmail her--into being his mistress.

My Thoughts:

Well when I first started reading this book, I actually thought this was the second on the series, but is the last one, since there all different stories is ok, that I jumped the others.

Vereham has some well formed thoughts about how live and what to do in every situation and is kinda sad, because he doesn’t get a very good life, for him is all about duty and his job as sheikh, so one moment, a shared kiss changed everything. I didn’t really liked Vere from the first time I read about his strange considerations for his life.

I liked Sam, she has chosen a very hard occupation and accepted an even more difficult place to work. In a country where most men think the all the women should stay at home and take care of family.

She tried to make her work better and forget about that stolen kiss, but everything changed when Vere started thinking she was a spy and after a very steamy night on the desert he decided to make her a mistress for his pleasure only.

The book is interesting, but I know some people has issues with forced relationship and even thoughts about slaves, so beware that these is a bit more forceful than the regular, but there are no sexual assault.

Book Blurb:

Petra is betrothed--to rich, eligible Sheikh Rashid. But she plans to ruin her reputation so Rashid won't want her. Blaize, a fellow guest at her hotel, agrees to be Petra's pretend lover--though soon he's taken her virginity!
Then Petra makes a shocking discovery. Blaize is actually none other than the man she's supposed to be marrying--Sheikh Rashid!

My Thoughts:

I don’t about you guys but I feel in love with Penny Jordan’s books since the very first one and was so sad when I first heard that she passed away on new years.

So with that thought in mind I decided to read some of her books during this years. My first choice was her sheik’s series, because (A) I love these different and very alpha male, (B) those are one of my first harlequin books. Very special, right?

The book is about a betrothed couple. Petra decides to accept her grandfather invitation and spend some time on her family country. And there she hears a strange piece of information about a supposed marriage with bachelor Rashid, super rich and sexy guy.

So Petra decides to destroy her reputation but she did picked the perfect guy, because she is actually dating Rachid, except she doesn’t know that’s him.

That’s a story about fairytale comes true and all those things, because he’s almost a prince. The way he treats her is so sweet considering he’s definily alpha male. Just loved.
