Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1)Title: Spider’s Bite
Author:  Jennifer Estep
Series: Elemental Assassin
Publisher:  Pocket Books
Format: ebook
ISBN: 1439147973
Genre: Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy
Release date: January 26th 2010
Number of pages: 395

My name is Gin, and I kill people.

They call me the Spider. I'm the most feared assassin in the South — when I'm not busy at the Pork Pit cooking up the best barbecue in Ashland. As a Stone elemental, I can hear everything from the whispers of the gravel beneath my feet to the vibrations of the soaring Appalachian Mountains above me. My Ice magic also comes in handy for making the occasional knife. But I don't use my powers on the job unless I absolutely have to. Call it professional pride.

Now that a ruthless Air elemental has double-crossed me and killed my handler, I'm out for revenge. And I'll exterminate anyone who gets in my way — good or bad. I may look hot, but I'm still one of the bad guys. Which is why I'm in trouble, since irresistibly rugged Detective Donovan Caine has agreed to help me. The last thing this coldhearted killer needs when I'm battling a magic more powerful than my own is a sexy distraction...especially when Donovan wants me dead just as much as the enemy.

I liked this book and it’s not a surprise since I loved Jennifer Estep Mythos Academy series, but what made me giddy for the end was Gin to fully accept her life and try to live with her past.

She’s an assassin and a damn good at it, but what made her this way is simply the only thing she can not forget, her family was murdered and she was tortured but the killer is still a mystery and she tried to survive on the streets and the only person to help her, transformed her in a killer.

She’s also an elemental, but what I liked was the fact she doesn’t use her powers to kill, only her body and she’s really good in the killing part, almost merciful. I liked how honest she is and that her jobs are usually with the lowlife bastards that got unpunished by society.

This book Gin was trying to save herself and discover who killed her mentor. She was caught in the middle of a crazy game and she was not happy about it, but I liked the way she handled things and how smart she is. Detective Caine was a pleasant surprise and I was happy with his motives. People were also trying to kill him and Gin decided to help him and of course it was a lot difficult, because they have a bad history behind.

There’s also a bit of steamy in the book, between the detective and Gin, but will definitely see more of him and his thoughts. He’s too good and doesn’t believe people can be bad, sometimes. He clearly doesn’t exist.

I liked the book and the investigation was fast and complete. Gin was awesome. A strong girl and decided.

Keely McKay knows Jack—and Jack Donohue is a certified pain in her Wranglers. The lone girl in the prolific McKay family, Keely needs another man giving her orders like she needs a hole in her boot. What she does need is a restoration specialist so she can open her physical therapy clinic—and prove she’s left her wild-child days behind. That means dealing with buttoned-down, uptight Jack.
Jack is this close to securing a career make-or-break project, until he learns his lack of marital status puts him out of contention. When the notoriously hot-tempered and hot-bodied Keely begs him for help, he proposes a crazy idea. He’ll oversee her project—if she acts the part of his loving fiancée.
Their sizzling lust makes it all too easy to go from butting heads to knocking boots—but outside the bedroom they’re as mismatched as ever. The McKays remind Jack of the humble upbringing he left behind, and cowgirl Keely feels she doesn’t measure up to Jack’s big-city lifestyle.
When the dust settles, Jack and Keely must face the fact they’re not fooling anyone but themselves—or they’ll risk losing the real deal.

Photobucket
This is Keely book and she’s being waiting for her happy ending since book one and it was not a surprise for me when jack finally managed to get her.

This was such a good book and Jack is really good in the bedroom, or the floor. He’s definitely has charm when you through the exterior of polished greatness. Keely is a great girl and has no problem in creating a mess, she has five older brothers and had to stand up for herself.

The relationship between these two is growing since the last three books, but I never realized jack was so good, it was kinda boring to me compared to the cowboys, but he’s a good person and deserved to have a nice ad normal life after what his ex-fiancé did to him.

It was fun how these two decided to pretend an engagement to help in Jack’s job and how everything ended so good. Sparks fly and these two are great in getting back together.

Review: Bared to You by Sylvia Day

Bared to You (Crossfire, #1)Title: Bared to You
Author: Sylvia Day
Series: Crossfire
Publisher:  Penguin Group (USA)
Format: ebook
ISBN: 0425263908
Genre: Erotica
Release date: June 2012
Number of pages: 338

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness…
He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…
Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as i prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

Photobucket
I felt like this book was very much like 50 shades and after reading that and liking it, I decided to give it a try to this series after so much rave. Gideon is very handsome and more human than I thought at first glance.

The thing that kept me so engrossed n this story was the past of both characters. Because at first first the sound broken and barely alive, but the secrets are only disclosed after half the book and I was already intrigued by the sexual scenes. Gideon is still a mystery to me, but I keep waiting to know more.

I liked the relationship and how those two are trying and after awhile they realized that fighting is better than running. It took so guts for Gideon to keep coming back. Eva is a flawed character and he past is full of drama, but she still tries in life and love. Props for her.

One thing I didn’t enjoy was Cari. He’s relationship with Eva sounds more passionate than it seams and he doesn’t look like trying to survive, just hang by and it’s bringing Eva down with him. I hope he gets better in the next book and they can discover a normal friendship.

Now waiting to see how Gideon is going to handle Corrine and how Christopher is coming back to destroy Gideon “happiness”. Plus I think Nathan might return.

Review: Dark Frost by Jennifer Estep

Dark Frost (Mythos Academy, #3)Title: Dark Frost
Author:  Jennifer Estep
Series: Mythos Academy
Publisher:  Kensington
Format: ebook
ISBN: 9780758280039
Genre: Young Adult
Release date: May 29th 2012
Number of pages: 336

I’ve seen so many freaky things since I started attending Mythos Academy last fall. I know I’m supposed to be a fearless warrior, but most of the time, I feel like I’m just waiting for the next Bad, Bad Thing to happen. Like someone trying to kill me—again.
Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects—and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school. But I’m also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me?
It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can’t use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me—and I’m in for the fight of my life.

Photobucket
Things are getting more dangerous than ever in Mythos Academy and now Gwen must find an artifact her mother hide. An again it’s the only way to save the humanity from Loki, problem is she has no idea where it is and Loki’s champion is also looking and it’s probably inside the school.

Gwen’s life is not easy and Logan is almost her boyfriend, because now she has reasons to stay away from him. Reapers are popping up from everywhere and nobody is save, but Gwen is improving in her abilities and also learning how to fight better. Double yay.

But the book is all about action and death happens, but this one was really good for the series. It explained a lot about Gwen’s family and also helped understand a bit more of this war.

Can’t wait for the next because now the bad guy is out of the cage and Gwen is trying to save herself.

Review: Because I Am Yours by Beth Kery

Because I Am Yours (Because You Are Mine, #8)Title: Because I Am Yours
Author:  Beth Kery
Series: Because You Are Mine
Publisher:  Berkley InterMix
Format: ebook
Genre: Erotica
Release date: September 18th 2012
Number of pages: 53

From the moment Ian and Francesca first met, the attraction was mutual—a purely, exquisitely physical charge that ignited between them. It couldn’t be ignored—only indulged, evolving into a bond of pleasurable subjugation. But Francesca’s open sensuality left her wanting more. Getting it from a man as mysterious and resolute as Ian was a challenge she never anticipated.
Francesca knows there’s only one way for them to move forward–to follow Ian to London and show him that she doesn’t want him to suffer alone. But when Ian’s past and inner torment is revealed, he experiences a nearly unbearable volcanic mix of emotions for the woman who has dared to love him, despite his inner demons. After exposing Francesca to the limits of his anguish, he wonders if he’s lost her forever. Can he bend enough to compromise to true intimacy…and something called love?

Photobucket
It’s over and these were the last two chapters. I didn’t see much difference in Ian from the beginning, but I liked how Francesca managed to change and become more sure of herself during the book. The relationship was good for her and made her understand more about her needs and how to get what she desires.

Ian was the same. Still hiding in the glass and pushing people from his life. Couldn’t trust Francesca, even when she said the four letters word with the big L. He’s a great Dom, but I don’t think he’s good yet for a long term relationship, needs to learn and trust people.

Author:  Beth Kery
Series: Because You Are Mine

Format: ebook
Genre: Erotica
Release date: September 11th 2012

After time away, Ian pursues Francesca once again. She can’t resist him, despite his secrecy…. As their relationship deepens, Ian begins to take pleasure in teaching her his strengths while she tempts him with the beauty of spontaneity and the rush of letting go of control. And for a while, they do let go…
It’s intoxicating and it’s exhilarating as they indulge themselves in the sweet, addictive fruit of passion. But as Francesca knows, when pleasure gets this intense, the quick burn-out can be devastating. For Ian’s secrets have tested Francesca yet again, leaving her to despair that the one man with whom she has become obsessed is the one man she may never really have.

Photobucket
I feel like this series is getting a little slow, but maybe is because the end is near and we all want more Ian and his dominating awesomeness. Francesca is getting more submissive in bed and more demanding in real life. This relationship is doomed to failure, but start fresh is good thing for these tow.
I liked this new and soft side of Ian, but once again he closes up and Francesca is tossed to the side. I wanted to see Ian more human, but he still treats Francesca like a teenager that does nothing right. Francesca is better now and start to stand up for herself and I liked this side of her, but want Ian to see she deserve something better.

Francesca takes the reins, blossoming under Ian’s tutelage and leading to a bold act of rebellion and sexual empowerment—one that sends Ian closer to the edge.
As far as Ian’s concerned, Francesca’s gone too far. It’s not just her flirtation with disaster, but her flagrant defiance and an agenda to torment him until he’s seeing red with need and desire. He will see the willful young woman submit, but when she does, Ian finds himself losing all of his carefully guarded control and leaping into the consuming flames with the woman he can’t live without.

Photobucket
This was a fun couple of chapters because we could see Francesca being normal and tormenting Ian, win-win right. It’s so easy to make him mad, that it’s a wonder how people manage to work with him daily.

Francesca didn’t meant to, but it was fun to watch Ian lose control and of course spank her for it afterwards. These two chapter were erotica to the extreme and made me happy to see Ian in his domains.

An outing in Paris, a luxury car, a dangerous rain-slicked street—and Francesca eagerly takes the wheel sending her and Ian spinning deliriously out of control. The risk would frighten most women. Not Francesca. It’s arousing. A moment of le petit morte that steers her relationship with Ian into a daring new direction.
Scorched by the depths of Francesca’s fresh, generous response to him, Ian begins to question his ability to keep his distance from the vibrant beauty. She’s like fire in his blood, striking a cord in him unlike any other woman, and every time he touches her, his need for total possession only mounts…

Photobucket
These two chapters felt more short than the others, maybe because I could see a more relaxed side of Ian, he’s possessive but also a cute when in love. I know he’s in love I can bet that when he finally figure out what it’s really happening things won’t be that simple for him.

I liked how Francesca didn’t just bow for him, when pressured and stand for her ideas, very nice how she handled and Ian was really sweet afterwards.

Plus the felatio was hoooootttt. I know it sounds so simple when compared to other books and scenes we already saw from Ian, but the waiting for the next chapter made more anxious.

Review: Shoulda Been a Cowboy by Lorelei James

Title: Shoulda Been a Cowboy
Author:  Lorelei James
Series: Rough Riders
Publisher:  Samhain
Format: ebook

Genre: Erotica
Release date: August 2009
Number of pages: 234
The bigger they are, the harder they fall-in love. Rough Riders, Book 7 Soldier Cameron McKay has found his niche, and it ain't ropin' steers and wearin' spurs. His deputy sheriff job, plus battle injuries that ended his military career, keep him right where he wants to be: Off the ranch and away from his family's pity. His darkest war memories are on lockdown, leaving him skeptical he'll ever find a woman who wants a man who's less than whole. Domini Katzinski has had to control every aspect of her life since age eleven, when she was orphaned in the Ukraine. Watching others' relationships crumble has convinced her to focus on the short-term and find a take-charge man to whom she can relinquish total sexual control. Cam fits the bill: gorgeous, with a brooding vulnerability no one else seems to see. Plus, he has his own handcuffs. Once Cam gets over his surprise that sweet, shy Domini wants to be dominated, he is back to issuing orders. Their passion is as hot as a rocket-propelled grenade-and if Domini has her way, it's a one-shot deal. Cam wants more, and launches a full-out sensual assault...until tragedy strikes, forcing him to change tactics as he tries to keep past demons from blowing their future together all to hell... Warning: this book contains down and dirty games of good cop/bad cop, salty language, sweet 'n hot lovin', ménage a trois, and hooah a hero packin' serious heat.
Photobucket

This was a strange book at first because Cam was not around on the last few and since his injury I don’t know what to think about him and now he has a job and a house but it’s afraid to get close to people.

We met Domini, but only passing and she sounds like such a sweet girl that I didn’t thought it was right to put her with Cam, but after a couple of chapters I realized that she’s is so much better.

Domini is a strong and very capable girl, but she suffered in her original country and decided to take a chance on the US, her life is definitely better now, but things were not so great until a couple of months back and she’s still trying to help people. Sweet to the extreme.

I’m not gonna say anything about the ménage, because I honestly think is was not necessary, but I liked how Domini managed to canvince Cam to let go and enjoy life in town and with his family without worrying about what people would think. Plus the sex between these two was really awesome and I didn’t expected Cam being so Dominant.

Wyoming rancher Quinn McKay thought he’d only have to bide time until his levelheaded wife came to her senses and called a halt to this “trial separation”. He never believed the marital rough patch would drag on for a coon’s age.

Libby McKay knew when she married the gruff, laid-back cowboy that he wasn’t prone to blathering about his feelings. But three months have passed and her stubborn-as-a-mule husband is still living by himself in the horse trailer. It seems he’d rather hold onto his pride than hold onto her.

Quinn realizes Libby is determined to move on if he doesn’t loosen his tongue and he’ll lose the only woman he’s ever loved. In a last-ditch effort to keep her in his life, he offers her one weekend of uninterrupted sexual decadence.

Reigniting the passion is easy. The hard part comes after the sheets have cooled and they find out if what remains is strong enough to survive past mistakes.

Photobucket

I’m disappointed because this couple was only maintained passing in a couple of books and now they only get a novella to solve their problems. This was not enough for me and I want more form Quinn and Libby.

She’s sweet and a great housewife, but is unhappy with her marriage and feels like a failure because she can’t get pregnant, so the relationship is hanging by a breath. I liked Quinn but he needed to be more upfront with his feelings and desires. The marriage is really boring at the moment.

I liked how Libby handled things because the present was not a good moment for these tow and they needed a good push in the right direction. Quinn living in a trailer helped him put perspective in things of his life and appreciate Libby better.

Libby was a bit obsessed with having a baby and was suffocating Quinn, but talking was not the greatest thing between these two and the fresh start helped them find reasoning within their problems.

As a walking advertisement for the tattoo shop she's set up in a small Wyoming town, India Ellison is well acquainted with preconceived notions. Despite the odd looks, life is good. She's clean and sober, dotes on her sister's kids and, best of all, spends most of her free time with her best buddy, Colt McKay. Reformed bad boy Colt never expected three years of sobriety to lead to three years of abstinence. Curbing his craving for booze and random sexual encounters, however, is nothing compared to the ever-increasing craving for his hot-tempered, hot-bodied best friend, India. Too bad she's his A.A. sponsor. Too bad she hasn't a clue that he's been head-over-bootheels in love with her from day one. After an unexpected, steamy interlude, all India can think about is riding the sexy cowboy instead of her motorcycle. Or are they risking their friendship for a fling that could burn them both?
Photobucket

We met Colt since the second book and watched as he struggled to overcome the alcohol problem after a series of mistakes and Dag death really affected him while all the rest of the family was more worried about themselves. It’s really interesting for me to see the two troublemaker together in this book after three years as best friends the actually decided to jump in a relationship.

Never saw them together actually, because Colt is wild and I though he needed a nice girl to balance him, but after Lorelei started in the emotions and I realized the best person for him is really India, they spent some many times together and know a lot about the other that the only thing missing was the sex, and oh boy that was amazing.

The interesting part was how the family don’t know Colt at all and India made them aware that he was suffering and things were really difficult and they didn’t help any moment, it’s really strange because they always bond and only Kade and Keely were supportive.

Since India suffered and her life was really difficult and the overdose made her stop and start over. So now she has a tattoo shop in this little town, so she’s kinda of a stranger to the town. Colt helped her and was the perfect guy.

This book was really good and the sex was ohm. Loved how Colt and India finally found their way in this life.
