July 2013 in Review

quarta-feira, 31 de julho de 2013

This month I read way to much and reviewed a lot of books, but the best part was definitely the holidays. No college and sleeping late almost everyday. Busy life in July. Alegre

I loved most of the books and even got to finish some novellas too, they are not my favorite because the story is always rushed and way to fast but sometimes is fun to just enjoy the moment and the free books.

Memes and other things I participated this month:

Another Westmoreland fighting for the girl, this is exactly the reason Canyon can’t let go the fact Keisha returned to town and it’s always running from him, but he discovered something intriguing and I really liked the way he handled a baby.

After a few years away Keisha returned and now Canyon found out about the baby. I do have to say I didn’t liked her and neither her reasons, because Canyon has always been a nice and very right guy, but after one night that she caught him with another women is like her world changed and she can’t see reason.

Canyon was so sweet with the little boy and everyone in the family accepted her with a open mind, but I can’t shake the feeling she hid the children because she wanted too, especially after being raised by a single mom, and knowing everything about the Westmorelands, she chose everything that happened.

I loved Canyon and the rating is all because of him, Keisha was just not my thing.

What Are Best Friends For?
More than anything, Summer Patterson wants a baby. What she doesn't want is a husband. Thankfully, her best friend, Ryder McClain, makes the perfect sperm donor. Ryder is loyal, undeniably sexy and the one man she trusts—the only reason she agrees to conceive their baby naturally.
When baby-making nights with Summer blaze like the West Texas sun, Ryder feels the heat. He never expected Summer to say yes to sharing his bed. Now he's falling for her—and the prospect of fatherhood—while hiding a secret that could destroy her faith in him forever.

I usually love a book with friends falling in love and this one even had babies, but I just didn’t liked this couple, maybe is because Ryder is acting all fine and suddenly he changes. Anyway, not my favorite book by far.

Summer is actually a nice girl and I understand her fears and her reasons for wanting a family, but Ryder was not the best person for her. The couple didn’t showed a lot of sparks and he helped her, but the relationship felt a little bleak for me.

The know each other for years and there way too many secrets between these two. He never even knew she didn’t had a house for Pete sake. Doesn’t sound like best friends to me at all.

Romance Review: A Royal Without Rules by Caitlin Crews

I feel a little conflicted about this book, mostly by the way people treated Adriana. Even Pato used her and got away to easy for the fact afterwards. She’s such a sweet girl and everyone judged her by some legends from the past.
We can clearly see she’s trying to break free from all the drama surrounding her family and the way people think of them as dangerous. She never did anything wrong and was always found guilt, but the way her father treated her was the worst for me.
I liked this couple together and even understand Pato reasons for using her, but it was way to low and they should at least have consulted her before.
Pato was the bachelor and was way to happy to pretend and show the world this side of him, but Adriana discovered things were deeper than that and she made him be so good. For their relationship and the changes this book earned the 4th star.

Paranormal Romance: Delicate Freakn’ Flower by Eve Langlais

Delicate Freakn' Flower (Freakn' Shifters, #1)

Dammit, just how many toes was she going to have to stomp on before people realized she was a Delicate Freakn’ Flower?
Naomi doesn’t want to follow tradition and settle down with a violence-loving, chest thumping shapeshifter. She grew up in a household with five, testosterone laden brothers where none of the dishes ever matched, the ugly-as-sin furniture could withstand any catastrophe, and where crazy glue was bought by the case.
When fate—with a snicker—makes her meet not one, but two mates, Naomi digs her heels in and refuses to do what her wolf—and her body—demands. No way is she voluntarily allowing herself to get hitched to a pair of dumbass—totally hot and muscled—lacrosse players.
Can Ethan, the towering Kodiak bear, and Javier, the sexy, tanned jaguar convince this she-wolf that life with them won’t be all chaos? And can this delicate freakn’ flower unbend her prejudices enough to recognize she needs a pair of men who can handle her thorns—and her passion?
Warning: this is a hot threesome story where all the focus is on her with pleasurable consequences.

Advice:

Due to its strong sexual content, this novel is recommended for readers older than 18.

This is not my first book from Eve, but I realized after reading this one that her werewolves are super hilarious. It was fun and super hot following Naomi and her two mates. They are all shapeshifters, but each one is a different animal. I especially liked the bear shifter, it’s so fun seeing these other animals and how much they are still feared, even in this different society.

I liked Ethan, the bear, he’s more quiet and has a little fear of the people reactions because he’s so strong and is difficult to settle in, but Javier on the other end, is super fun and loving with sassy words and more than enough sexiness to share. They have shared woman before, but they are one hundred percent straight. It’s amazing the way Ethan discovered his mate and Javier went along for the ride just to she the special girl, discovering that she was her mate too.

I liked the fact these two did not fight over the mating deal and were even okay with the poliamourous relationship, the only one with a problem was Naomi, because she was the youngest and wanted a quiet and normal relationship with an human, just to escape the insane family of her. She thinks all shifters are like her family fighting everyday and destroying the house, but Ethan and Javier are different and they needed a week to show Naomi how right their relationship would be. I really liked I really liked this family and this series has so much potential.
