Hello Marianna. Thank you for having me today. Hello everyone ~ I appreciate your stopping by and hope you enjoy the post.

I’m Kay Dee Royal, a paranormal, fantasy, and contemporary erotica romance author. My favorite genre to read or write is paranormal. Under another name, I write YA paranormal/fantasy.

Today, I’d like to ask everyone a question ~ What is it about wild beastly Lycan draws you in?

Marianna asked me to share why I like Lycan; my favorite author/books to read on Lycan; and do I think Lycan are better than vampires?

That last part sort of made me laugh ~ it’s like asking to choose between Edward and Jacob. *smile* If you’re a Stephenie Meyer fan, you know exactly who those two are.

First let’s start with my favorite authors whose story-stars are werewolves. I’ve read and still read lots of books to do with wolf-shifters, so have a number of authors in my line up, but two seem to stand out for me.

For erotica romance, it’s Kate Douglas and her Wolf Tales series. Kate has built an exceptional world of Chanku, she labels as an exotic race of shape-shifters…and believe me when I say – they are. This world is so innovative it has lasted through twelve books and Kate’s still going strong. To learn more about Kate and her work: http://www.katedouglas.com/

My other favorite is paranormal YA author, Maggie Stiefvater. Her story-stars in Shiver are so compelling, as is her style and voice. The first person point of view drew me right in, but Maggie’s creativity with her Lycan’s abilities and limitations kept me engrossed completely. So real. *smile* You can find out more about Maggie and her work here: http://maggiestiefvater.com/

Now why do I like Lycan…I’m drawn to the wild side of them. Those beastly hunky heroes who are so protective and loyal to their pack, they’d die for them. And in my Lycan world, they pretty much mate for life…that is, when they find their primal-mate OR as we know it, soul-mate. *smile* A Lycan’s mate is also the only thing that can bring a big hunky Alpha to his knees, which always makes me swoon. I love their passion, steadfastness, the complete wonder of their world.

AND, their abilities, who wouldn’t like to take hundreds of years to age? Or have heightened / enhanced hearing, sight, smell, plus the capability of communicating telepathically with members of their pack. They have tons of strength and can run for hundreds of miles without tiring.

Doesn’t some part of you want to be Lycan? LOL

I can’t say Lycan surpasses Vampires as I can’t say Vampires are better than Lycan. I love them both…although, I’m partial to Lycan…only because I’ve written a couple stories with them as story-stars and I’ve fallen in love with them. *smile* Gotta love that Chance…and his whole pack.

Excerpt:

Where the hell is it?

Sharp prickles raced up Olivia’s spine as the deepest, longest, eeriest wolf howl she ever heard echoed through the forest. Her body froze and her fingers clung white-knuckled around the tranq rifle. A longer ominous howl answered. It came from the back side of the barn. She took a deep breath, stood up with gun ready, rounded the corner, and ran the length of the barn. Olivia paused for another breath before dashing around to the backside of the structure.

Nothing.

She stepped away from the building, intent on walking her yard perimeter, head pivoting in all directions, scanning the short grass and fallen leaves. Movement to her right alerted her too late as she pivoted toward the motion.

“Oomph!” She took a hit, like a truck slammed into her front side. A flurry of black and silver fur, claws, and teeth. She fell flat on her back, her head bouncing off the ground. The rifle flew from her grasp. No footfalls, no heavy breathing, but a pungent scent of musty dog fur lingered in the air. Olivia lay there, afraid to move, afraid the wolf had just called in his pack.

I am vamp girl (you know that ;-) but when it comes to hot men- werewolves are definitely up there on my list. Sometimes they are so much hotter than the vamps.

Take Twilight- come on muscles, heat....gorgeousness....I'm team Jacob all the way (when I ignore the fact he's younger than my oldest son LOL).

Then there's True Blood. OMG Alcide is the hottest man on that show. I would take him over any of those vamps.

Vamps have their advantages- but when it comes to heat, alpha attitude, sweep you off your feet males who are a little rough around the edges and in touch with nature the Lycans are the top of the line.

Mariana...so, what's your answer to the age-old question? Vamps or Werewolves? *smile*

Thank you for having me here today...you have a lovely site. AND, a big thank you for taking the time to read Chance and Olivia story...I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I'm still wearing the same big smile I wore the first moment I read your book review:)

I love a good paranormal, but the sexiest are always the werewolves. They are definely hotter and vampires are so not that sexy.

Werewolves have a hot blood, pretty perfect body and are strong enough to makes us feel week but not vulnerable.

I love True Blood, but didn't liked how they portraited the werewolves, addicted and subjected to a vampire. So wrong and different levels.

But Alcide was inded perfect. Could be a true alpha, with charisma, and strengh.

Thanks again for a lovely day, Mariana

I love paranormal stories, especially about werewolves. I love the Wolf Tales series. I agree with Roxanne, Team Jacob all the way. I like that the heroine is slightly older. This book sounds amazing. Can't wait to read it. Great post and excerpt.
